Police Officer - (Bedford, VA)

The Town of Bedford Police Department is seeking candidates for the position of Police Officer. Duties of a Police Officer include enforcing the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia as well as ordinances of the Town of Bedford. General Duties include: enforcing state and local laws; performing patrol duties and responding to calls for service in the protection of life and property; preserving the constitutional rights of every citizen; conducting criminal and traffic investigations; conducting field interviews; serving warrants, subpoenas and other court papers; issuing summons and making arrests; watching for criminal, suspicious, or hazardous situations and taking appropriate police action when necessary; providing assistance and details to the public; and participating in the prosecution of offenders. After successful completion of the Police Academy and Field Training salary will be 36,400. DOQ Salary will be negotiable for certified officers.
