The Center for Art and Inquiry (CAI) leads the Exploratorium arts initiative by setting arts direction and strategy within the learning laboratory context of the Exploratorium. The Director of the Center for Art and Inquiry oversees the institutional Arts Initiative and directs the activities of the Center, including artist residencies, temporary exhibitions, commissions and special projects, and related public programs and publications. The 3 main areas of focus are: 1) articulating and positioning the unique role of Exploratorium arts with respect to the larger professional fields of art, science, learning, and culture; 2) directing key Exploratorium programs in the arts; 3) overseeing the institutional infrastructure for the arts
