Legal: VP & Deputy General Counsel - Washington, DC - (Washington, DC)

The Company is seeking a dynamic senior level professional to oversee and manage issues and staff in the Office of the General Counsel. Areas of responsibility may include a mix of subject areas including global regulatory oversight and modernization, annuities, market conduct, reinsurance, and litigation. Working with the General Counsel, Company staff, member company representatives and CEOs, identify and attempt to resolve issues affecting Company’s member companies and their products. In partnership with the General Counsel, manage the day-to-day operational and administrative tasks of the department. Work with federal and state relations staff to prepare written and oral advocacy to federal and state legislative and regulatory policymakers, and mediate differences between member companies to ensure an outcome supportable by Company membership. Qualifications Job requires a Law degree with at least ten years of relevant background in the life insurance and/or financial services industry.
