Legal: Office of the General Counsel's Law Intern Program - Washington, DC - (Washington, DC)

Duties Help Duties Summary The mission of the OGC is to provide prompt and effective legal advice to Library management upon request and in anticipation of need. The office handles a wide variety of legal issues, including: contracts and procurement; labor law and ethics; acquisitions, gifts, and trusts; intellectual property; lawful use of appropriated and non-appropriated funds; posting items in the collections on the Internet; and defense of the Library in administrative and federal court litigation. The office operates in coordination with the Library's other legal offices: the Law Library; Copyright Office; and the American Law Division of the Congressional Research Service. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities The Library of Congress Office of the General Counsel hosts volunteer law clerks during the summer and through the school year. The positions are unpaid, yet offer a good opportunity to learn the law in a federal government setting. Students may work for academic credit.
