JOB ANNOUNCEMENT - POLICE CHIEF. The City of Alton is seeking to hire a full time Police Chief. The Police Chief is under administrative direction of the City Manager and is responsible for the administration and management of crime prevention and law enforcement. Duties include directing and guiding departmental, managerial, and operational staff and resources toward achieving departmental goals and objectives. This position must work together with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and with, local officials, community groups and organizations, and the general public. Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business Administration or other relevant field and/or Master Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement preferred; ten years of progressively responsible background in multiple aspects of law enforcement, five of which have been in a managerial and leadership capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training
