General Summary: Volunteers are integral members of the hospice interdisciplinary group, providing emotional support and practical assistance to dying and grieving people and their families. The Coordinator of Volunteers is responsible for the recruitment, retention, training and placement of volunteers as well as the overall administrative, record keeping, and Quality Assessment / Performance Improvement activities of the volunteer component. Sample Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Recruits, trains, retains, assigns and recognizes the contributions of volunteers. 2. Assigns volunteers to patient care activities (direct) and / or other needed functions (indirect). 3. Consults with IDG to develop the Volunteer Care Plan for patients assignments. 4. Provides ongoing regular contact with volunteers to assess and supervise their activities. 5. Participates in IDG, representing the volunteer component of care 6. Maintains all necessary volunteer records, files, availability, and assignments.
