Assistant Scientist III The Ames Laboratory is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Scientist III within the Division of Materials Science and Engineering of the Ames Laboratory. The Ames Laboratory is a Department of Energy ( DOE ) funded national laboratory operated through contractual agreement with Iowa State University. The Assistant Scientist III will provide advanced ability for current and new research into quantum materials using novel optical magnetometry techniques based on nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond. Duties of the position will include research spanning high-temperature superconductors and related compounds, magnetically ordered materials, nano- and meso- scale magnetic and superconducting systems, and biological and bio-inspired systems, such as magnetotactic bacteria.
