The Oregon State University Office of News and Research Communications seeks a news editor to lead a team of writers in addition to taking on direct beat responsibilities. The editor will identify news opportunities; ensure staff coverage of them; write and edit news releases, features, tips and advisories; serve in crisis communications; provide guidance and support to faculty and administrative leaders; and help develop a media relations plan. Qualified applicants will have a min of 5 yrs writing and editing background; a portfolio of recent clips; a bachelor's or advanced degree in journalism, public relations, English or a related position; a knowledge of AP style; ability with both social media and multimedia; the ability to ms excel in a dynamic and collaborative environment; and an understanding of contemporary news media.
