Bioinformatics Researcher- BDRD - (Chicago, IL)

Position description The Genomics Department in the Biological Defense Research Directorate (BDRD) of the Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC) has a mission to apply bioinformatics and cutting edge, high-throughput technologies such as genotypic and phenotypic expression profiling, biomarker characterization, bacteriophage science, etc. to the study of infectious diseases, biodefense, and enhanced global disease surveillance for early pathogen detection and response. We are seeking a Bioinformatics Researcher with the following experience: 1) Five Years of hands-on experience in Bioinformatics. 2) Strong experience in Computer Science, Genomics, Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. 3) Programming skills in languages such as JAVA, PERL, PYTHON, and statistical software such as R. 4) Familiarity with next generation sequencing and related platforms (MiSeq, NextSeq500, Ion Torrent, 454, Optical Mapping, as well as microarrays. 5) Must be willing to travel internationally to potentially austere environments.
