Staff Scientist - (Newark, DE)

Responsibilities BASIC SUMMARY: Work with R&D department members on new assay or method development, optimization and process improvements that decrease throughput time and increase accuracy, precision and robustness of the microbial identification assays used in the sequencing or MALDI-TOF laboratories. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with R&D department members on new assay or method development. Assist R&D by evaluating alternative approaches to new or modified assays and/or automation, which will lead to improved performance and quality. Develop selected approach further by evaluating robustness, tradeoffs, and design process steps; test with known strains and customer samples and write development reports as needed. Perform assay optimization testing; ensure attention to detail in record keeping and result verification. Conduct data review, analysis and make summaries related to R&D experiments. May be asked to deliver formal presentations of scientific results.
