The Nez Perce Tribe Law & Justice Department is recruiting for: IN-HOUSE PUBLIC DEFENDER HR-15-159 regular full time. To provide legal defense services in criminal and civil matters for the Nez Perce Tribal Court. Candidates must provide evidence of their Juris Doctor degree from an accredited college of law, and of their active, good standing membership in a State Bar Association. Must have at least 1 (1) year documented successful litigation background, preferably in a Tribal Court. Requires verification of successful litigation background by a letter of recommendation from the immediate supervisor, or by providing contact information from the immediate supervisor for a follow-up reference check. Candidate must demonstrate understanding of Tribal, federal, and state law and the multijurisdictional issues which often arise in Tribal Court. Excellent legal research and written correspondence skills required. “Please include writing sample”. Pre-employment drug testing required.
