Manager, Merchandise Planning Hingham, Massachusetts - US Job details Primary Purpose: This position is responsible for managing all the merchandise planning activities; approving financial sales, gross margin and inventory plans, for a group of products across Talbots' stores and direct channels. Assures the most profitable use of Talbots' inventory through sales, markdown, and stock strategies are recommended to the V.P. of Merchandise Planning, Merchandising and Direct teams. Strategizes closely with VP Planning and VP Merchandising to ensure financial goals are achieved. Recruits, trains, and manages top planning talent.Principal Accountabilities: Develop preseason category targets for sales, gross margin and turn levels. Approve planners' plans for sales, margin and turnover goals by season. Lead planners in season management and manage the open to buy for their area. Create and manage markdown strategies that maximize profit and inventory liquidation across stores and direct.
