Associate Managing Editor - (Melville, NY)

Newsday, an award-winning news organization with a portfolio of print and digital products, is seeking a newsroom leader with a proven work history to direct assistant managing editors and their teams of editors and reporters producing our local Long Island report. This editor will lead our local news staff in: -Pursuing watchdog work and smart beat enterprise. -Breaking news continuously throughout the day in a very competitive environment. -Telling stories in new and different ways across our many digital and print products. This position necessitates a collaborator and a communicator with strong digital and print skills who is an effective mentor and a coach for both editors and reporters. The applicant will be experienced in reaching across all newsroom departments to produce high quality daily news coverage and enterprise. The position mandates a smart, strategic thinker who can allocate resources to help meet operating goals and support the Managing Editor in driving editorial strategy and policy.
