Optimization Engineer - Steel Industry - (Portage, IN)

RESPONSIBILITIES In this position you will be instrumental in implementing Lean Principles. There is strong management support for cultural change. • Oversee correct deployment of TPS/Lean principles at steel manufacturing (melting, casting, and flat rolling) operating units . • Lead Kaizen Events and other continuous improvements initiatives post system implementation. • Develop A3 Team Issue solving at the shop floor level. • Conduct organizational training. • Conduct detailed analysis of process and business level data to calculate project impacts to the business bottom line. QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE • BS in an Engineering Discipline • 5 (5) years of background in a flat rolled metals manufacturing environment. (Background in other heavy industrial settings may qualify.) • Trained in Lean Manufacturing/ TPS techniques including 6 Sigma methodology. • Toyota Production System (TPS) background.
