This position is open until filled Are you a skilled Electronics Technician with 5 (5) years' background with a knack for fixing Electro Mechanical and Pneumatic systems while working around and handling sensitive Scientific Optics? If you answered yes, then we are looking for you. W. M. Keck Observatory (WMKO) seeks an Instrument Technician to work in close collaboration with instrument engineers and support astronomers and be responsible for technical support of the facility's astronomical instruments. Required background include: An AS degree in Electronics or Engineering degree or equivalent Three (3) years' background in a highly technical or science operations environment Background and expertise working with and around complex sensitive optics Background in at least 3 (3) of the following areas: Operation and maintenance of vacuum dewars Cryogen systems (liquid and/or close cycle) Electro Mechanical systems and encoders Pneumatic systems/actuators Scientific grade optics
