Environmental Metals chemist - (Silver Spring, MD)

POSITION OVERVIEW: The general duties of the Chemist/Microbiologist include but are not limited to chemical and/or microbiological procedures requiring the use of basic to advanced laboratory instrumentation. Incumbents oversee the work of the technical staff within a specific analytical group; provide technical support to laboratory personnel and the Quality Assurance/Quality Control Unit; and perform related duties as required including cross training Laboratory personnel in the designated scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities. An incumbent reports to the Unit Coordinator of Laboratory Operations. REQUIRED FUNCTIONS: Uses instrumentation such as GFAA, ICP, Hg Analyzers, Flow Injection Analyzers, BOD Analyzers, TOC Analyzers, Sulfate Analyzers, ICP-MS, UV VIS, COD Analyzers, FlowCAM, Microscopes, GC, or other basic technical equipment for the determination of microbiological organisms, physical properties, metals, and inorganic and organic chemical constituents; Reviews, approves
