Political Organizer - SEIU Local 221 - (San Diego, CA)

Purpose : Under direction of the Executive Director or his/her designee to develop and carry out a member based political program. Distinguishing Characteristics : This is a journey level political organizer classification. The incumbent must have the expertise, if assigned. To perform 2 or more of the following: (1) Coordinate a field campaign under the auspices of the Central Labor Council, (2) Carry out an independent expenditure campaign for a applicant, (3) Be able to work directly with a applicant campaign when required, and to develop a "rapid response" system in order to respond quickly to legislative crises. Typical Tasks : Vision Recruit and Train member-volunteers for electoral campaigns and other political activities. Coordinate electoral activities, including direct mail, phone banks, GOTV, precinct organization, vote-by-mail, etc. Write and design flyers, brochures, and other political campaign material.
