Description The Histology Technician is responsible for the work of the Histology section of the Laboratory, including Cytology and Autopsy. The Histology Technician performs all surgical pathology, autopsy, and cytology procedures, maintains equipment, and follows quality assurance protocols. Qualifications A. EDUCATION: Must be a high-school graduate and have successfully completed a CAHEA/NAACLS accredited Histotechnology program or military equivalent. B. BACKGROUND: Must have at least 1 full year of background in all aspects of Histology, including surgical pathology/cytology/autopsy. C. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Must be registered as a Histology Technician (HT) by ASCP or other national certifying agency.
