Teacher Assistants (10+) Duties & Responsibilities: Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skill initially introduced by the teacher. Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material, or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests and abilities. Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work that is set up and assigned by the teacher. Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work, as assigned by the teacher. Assists with large group activities Serves as the chief source of info and helps as a substitute in the absence of the regular teacher. Assists in maintaining record of each student’s daily behavioral sheets in accordance to the Level System. Assists in administration, scoring, and recording such achievement and diagnostic tests as the classroom Special Education teacher recommends for individual students.
