Building Inspector - (Cedar Falls, IA)

Building Inspector The City of Cedar Falls is seeking applicants who are qualified for a Building Inspector. Individuals must be ICC certified as a combination inspector OR a licensed Journeyman in the electrical trade and if not certified, will be required to obtain an ICC certification. Duties will include being involved with all phases of construction, permitting, building, inspections, plan review, correspondence with homeowners and contractors, and enforcement of applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations. Other duties include recognition of faulty and unsafe construction and application of structural safety methods in the course of construction. Applicants must also have a high-school certificate, or equivalent, supplemented by specialized training in building, construction technology, code enforcement or related position and at least 10 years. practical background in building trades or five years as a designated inspector.
