SUMMARY The R & D Technician is responsible for assisting in Product Development and Sales needs in support of Cooleys business involving plastics, coated fabrics and extrusion ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prepares laboratory specimens Performs standard laboratory extrusion, coating and testing experiments. (ASTM, AATCC, MIL SPECs, ETC) Assembles and operates laboratory equipment, preproduction scale up, and field equipment. Oversees basic maintenance of lab equipment Collects data and records, and summarizes results of experiments, including statistical analysis. Interacts with manufacturing, sales, customers, and vendors as needed Prepares chemical compounds, resins or other chemical agents. Other duties as needed EDUCATION & BACKGROUND Experience with plastics and compounds a plus (formulation of PVC compounds, TPO, TPU, and other chemical compounds) Extrusion and coating process technology background Plus, woven and knit fiber and fabric construction knowledge a plus Computer Literacy a must.
