Assistant Attorney General Labor Division ~ Springfield The Office of the Attorney General has an opening for an Assistant Attorney General in the Labor Division. The attorney will primarily practice workers' compensation defense for claims filed by state employees and will also defend the State of Missouri's 2nd Injury Fund. This practice includes interacting frequently with the state risk-management agency for workers' compensation, conducting and defending expert witness and party depositions, conducting hearings before different administrative law judges, mediating and otherwise resolving claims by settlement, and prosecuting and defending appeals before the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission and the state's appellate courts. The position involves regular daytime travel. Candidates who graduated in the top 30% of their law school class and who have 2 or more years' background in the practice of law are preferred. EOE
