Research Welding Engineer. Will design, guide and follow welding research, development and testing programs in research welding laboratory and materials processing and fabrication facility. Will provide engineering support to design and fleet support groups. Will likely be involved with design, procurement, installation and operation of research welding or materials processing equipment. Will perform engineering evaluations and analyses, and make engineering decisions for all aspects of assigned tasks. Cognizant areas may include planning, designing, modeling, analyzing, documenting, and testing of nuclear, mechanical, structural or electrical components, systems and equipment and facilities. Work may include chemical or materials evaluations, design reviews, operations support, safety analysis, engineering methods and software engineering, and analysis of vendor or shipyard procedures and systems.
