Security Officer - (New York, NY)

Covenant House is a nonprofit organization serving homeless and runaway youth within New York City. Covenant House New York currently has an opportunity to hire Public Safety personnel. The Security Officer will ensure the safety of all guests within the facility. Job assignments: Verify/approve proper identification for staff/residents and visitors entering/leaving the premises- Prevent loitering in prohibited areas Obtain property passes and inspect bags/packages being removed from the agency Conduct security patrols in buildings as assigned Monitor closed circuit televisions and areas surrounding assigned post Activate/deactivate alarms as required Respond to calls for assistance from staff members- Conduct emergency drills according to prescribed procedures Train new security officers- Ensure appropriate security interventions in physical/verbal altercations Review card file before admitting new candidates for Intake Shifts:
