ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Carries out multi-step synthesis, isolation, purification, and characterization of small organic compounds. Designs efficient routes to target molecules of a broad range of complexity. Presents cross-functional research at departmental and project team meetings. Is responsible for ensuring compliance with safe laboratory practices and EH&S guidelines. Drives the medicinal chemistry strategy on a project team. Makes key contributions to new inventions. May independently serve as the chemistry representative on a project team or as a project leader/co-leader. Is responsible for the communication between the department and a project team. Communicates progress, milestones, changes in timelines etc to all key stake holders. May supervise 1 or more direct reports. Is a role model for junior staff.
