Painters are responsible for providing prep and paint work inside and outside buildings, clean work areas, machines, tools and equipment, custodial services, light maintenance, and some deliveries. Specific Duties and Essential Duties: Prepares, primes, sands, seals, patches and paints furniture, surfaces, buildings, and fixtures utilizing all types of painting materials such as varnish, lacquer, shellac, enamel, latex, epoxy, water-proofing, heat resistant finishes and other various materials. Applies materials to new construction, existing, multi-story buildings, alterations and remodels. Operates, cleans and maintains all painting equipment, including brushes and rollers, and any other equipment. Safely stores and labels all materials. Erects scaffolding, rigging and ladders as necessary in a manner consistent with safety codes. Cleans walls, hallways, stairs, and other common areas as assigned. Stains, seals, and varnishes wood surfaces.
