Copy Editor-Tax - (Chicago, IL)

On a typical day, editors will edit and approve around 15-16 news articles and features covering a wide array of legal practice area of tax related stories. Additional assignments include writing headlines and reshaping ledes; line editing, copy editing and basic fact checking; and examining newsletters prior to publication. Copy desk shifts include 1:00-9:00 p.m. and 3:00-11:00 p.m. EST. Shift assignments are dependent upon department needs. Necessary experience: - Bachelor's degree in English, professional writing, journalism, communications or related position. - 2 Yrs of full time copy editing background at a news organization. - Exceptional skills in grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax and vocabulary. - Current expertise of AP style. - Extreme attention to detail and expertise to meet deadlines.
