Serologist (Microbiologist) 00289 - (Lynchburg, VA)

The Division of Animal and Food Industry Services seeks a Microbiologist to perform routine serologic tests on samples submitted for diagnostic and regulatory purposes at our Regional Animal Health Laboratory located in Lynchburg. Duties include the performance of serologic tests such as plate agglutination, Agar Gel Immunodiffusion (AGID), and Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) for the detection of antibodies to diseases of poultry and large animals. Responsible for quality control and quality assurance of reagents and work conducted in the serology section. Assists in other disciplines (diagnostic bacteriology, dairy microbiology, molecular testing, etc.) and works collaboratively as a team player to assist with other related laboratory procedures as needed.
