The Buyer I performs entry level purchasing tasks within assigned commodity classifications and procurement authority.Key functions Reviews requisitions for completion, accuracy and appropriate procurement action. Consults with vendors and University faculty and staff to ensure specifications are complete, accurate and current with the latest technology and market conditions. Prepares, distributes, tabulates, evaluates and awards bid solicitations and quotations. Resolves issues regarding invoices, damaged or non-conforming shipments, cancellations, shortages and returns. Communicates with departments and/or vendors regarding product details, market trends, procurement policies and procedures, and training. Contributes to the professional development efforts (individual, team and department) of the department.
