Eye Bank Technician - (Lubbock, TX)

Job details The Eye Bank Technician is responsible for recovering eye tissues needed for transplant and/or research; performing a donor assessment and review of all available records of each prospective donor; obtaining a blood specimen for serologic testing, and interaction with doctors, nurses, funeral directors and family members. The incumbent in this position will support the Service Plus philosophy of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Preferred Requirements * Prefer college diploma; however, relevant background in eye banking may be substituted. * Prefer a min of 2 years' background as an eye bank technician and current EBAA Certified Eye Bank Technician status. * Familiarity with eye bank functions, recovery procedures, tissue evaluation, EBAA Medical Standards, FDA Guidelines, aseptic technique * Intermediate technical skills with an emphasis on Word, Microsoft excel, and PowerPoint * Expertise to exercise judgment and discretion in devising, installing and interpreting rules, regulations
