Veterinary Technician - (Lihue, HI)

Vet Assistant/Tech Job details Responsibilities Responsible for examining and processing animals received by the KHS, which includes properly completing necessary paperwork. Maintains proper identification and records on all KHS animals. Administers vaccinations and completes preliminary physical examinations in a prescribed manner. Medicates any animal designated for treatment by the Staff Veterinarian. Assist in conducting behavior assessments and health screenings on incoming animals. Examines animals and prescribes treatments according to standard and established treatment protocols or as directed by the shelter veterinarian. Inputs exam results and diagnosis/treatment into Pet Point and completes animals medical record. As necessary takes temperature, pulse and respiration. Collects and prepares blood, urine, and feces samples. Performs diagnostic tests, including x-rays, blood work, urinalysis, swabs, etc. Creates medication charts and prepares medications for shelter animals.
