Essential Job assignments To sustain and develop the State Climate Office of North Carolina as a Public Service Center. To define, and disseminate details about the climatic and environmental factors that impact the people of North Carolina, including predictions and projections. To provide public service through extension activities and applied research in cooperation with other entities. To be involved in the multifaceted effort of managing, accessing, providing, analyzing, disseminating, and interpreting details to promote environmental stewardship. To describe, monitor, and assess climate, climate change and the resulting impacts in North Carolina. Primary assignments include: 1. Supervise SCO staff and students as they perform research, extension, and educational activities of the Center. 2. Insure the maintenance and operation of the existing North Carolina Environmental Climate Observation Network, as well as the timely dissemination of these data to the public and their archiving 3.
