Adult English Language Program: English Instructor/Assistant Instructor - (Jeffersonville, IN)

English language Instructors and Assistant Instructors teach necessary English speaking, reading, and writing expertise to adults working on the track. Instructors have the opportunity to teach either a beginner, intermediate, or advanced English course. No Spanish is required to teach the intermediate or advanced courses, however, anyone interested in the beginner class, will need to speak Spanish at least at the conversational level. Instructors will be provided with curriculum, teaching material, resources and trainings to help them teach class. Incoming volunteers will begin in the Assistant Instructor position unless they have previous teaching background and feel comfortable leading class and completing the tasks of Lead Instructors. SCHEDULE: English classes run Monday-Thursday from 5:30-7 pm at the Backside Learning Center (located in the stable area of Churchill Downs). COMMITMENT TIME: We ask that interested volunteers commit to teaching at least once a week for a complete six week cycle.
