This position is full time and offers a varied work schedule. Job summary: This position is a NC Certified Peer Support Specialist. This professional’s life background with mental illness or substance abuse and behavioral health services provides ability that professional training cannot replicate. The certified peer support specialist is a fully integrated team player who provides highly individualized services in the community and promotes the self-determination and shared decision-making abilities of beneficiaries. Essential Job Functions: Provides coaching, mentoring, and consultation to the beneficiary to promote recovery, self- advocacy, and self-direction. Promotes wellness management strategies, which includes delivering manualized interventions (e.g., Wellness Recovery Action Planning or Illness Management and Recovery).
