Job details Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer is responsible for the purchasing function of all assigned materials and off-load manufacturing processes beginning with bid proposal through receipt of materials and inventory management. Implicit in this position is the qualification of suppliers to meet quality, cost and delivery qualifications. This job necessitates coordination with the Manufacturing Planner, Production Planner, and shop employees. NATURE AND SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Execute commodity sourcing strategies and participate in supplier negotiations. Identify possible suppliers and submit Request for Proposal for materials or processing, as needed to support production and limit costs. Receive and evaluate bids against cost controls. Coordinate quality review of supplier Place, monitor and maintain purchase orders that meet quality, delivery, and cost expectations. Monitor ERP for order releases and exception messages to manage inventories at levels to avoid production disruption.
