Youth Worker - (Far Rockaway, NY)

Position overview Under the leadership of the SONYC Program Coordinator, the Youth Worker will work collaboratively to develop and implement age-appropriate activities for youth in the middle school program. The Youth Worker will be responsible for the safety and education of the participants assigned to their group as well as the development of meaningful activities and experiences. The Youth Worker is a critical support role to the parents/youth of the community and in developing meaningful relationships with participants. Position responsibilities: Communicate regularly (written /verbal) with CMS SONYC Program Coordinator Attend meetings both internally/externally to remain abreast of current info. Build positive relationships with program participants and families through special events celebrating participant accomplishments, parent orientation, and workshops. Ensure a smooth transition to other program areas, i.e. art, computer, recreation dance.
