Vessel Engineer (100 ton minimum) Full-time Seasonal - (Homer, AK)

Responsible for maintenance, operation and repair of all engineering equipment onboard 86 research vessel. This includes electrical and mechanical equipment, heating, ventilation, refrigeration and water and sewerage systems. Serves as 1st Mate aboard the vessel. Responsibilities Oversees and performs the maintenance of vessel propulsion, service and domestic systems. Performs daily operation, preventative maintenance, watch-standing and recordkeeping, fuel transfer, and bilge/ballast operations. Determine the volume of oil, fuel, and lube required for each voyage and ensure that substantial quantities of each are on board. Responsible for surveying, troubleshooting & correction of system failures. Ensures that all maintenance is completed efficiently and in depth. Has proficiency in the mechanical and electrical operation of modern marine diesel engines, generator sets, and winches. Safely operate or work with cranes, hooks, anchor winches, slings, and other lifting devices.
