Veterinary Technician - (Fort Valley, GA)

JOB DESCRIPTION This position performs technical duties preparation and instruction of veterinary labs and in the provision of veterinary care to university animals. MAJOR DUTIES Prepares laboratory exercises and instructs students. Assists students with remedial and make-up assignments. Tracks and documents student laboratory grades. Procures department supplies. Monitors animal safety and welfare to ensure regulatory compliance. Administers medications to animals. Diagnoses animal illness and injuries. Trains new student workers in the care of animals; schedules student workers. Assists in the recruitment of students. Completes continuing-ed. Assists with a variety of educational camps. Manages biohazards, expired drug, and safety programs. Assists with research projects. Performs related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION Knowledge of animal husbandry principles. Knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of animals.
