Athletic Trainer, Certified Position overview:Overview: The Certified Athletic Trainer is responsible for evaluating, treating and managing the care of patients with musculoskeletal injuries and disorders for the purpose of promoting and enhancing human functional performance. Responsibilities: Essen tial Duties and Assignments include the following. a) provide services directed toward achieving increased functional independence, decreasing functional limitations, and prevention of injuries to the physically active individual/athlete. b) upon the advice and consent of a physician, carry out the practice of prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, disposition, treatment, and/or rehabilitation of injuries. c) use physical modalities, such as heat, light, sound, cold, electricity, or mechanical devices related to treatment of the injured individual. d) provide education in the prevention of injuries, conditioning, and rehabilitation of injuries is an integral part of their scope of practice.
