Biologist Postdoctoral Scholar (Environmental Genomics & Systems Biology) - (Vallejo, CA)

Position details: Berkeley Lab's Environmental Genomics & Systems Biology Division has an opening for a Biologist Postdoctoral Scholar. This position will be part of an effort led by Aymerick Eudes in the Feedstocks Division at JBEI. You will be involved in two sub-projects: (1) developing metabolic pathways to produce novel lignins and/or valuable co-products in model plants (Arabidopsis, Brachypodium, tobacco) and (2) characterize sorghum lines engineered with the existing JBEI-Feedstocks' technology portfolio. Your primary responsibility will be to generate DNA constructs for plant transformation, select transgenic plants, characterize the engineered plant material at the metabolite level, and conduct biomass deconstruction analysis. What You Will Do: Generate a suite of plasmid constructs for engineered metabolic pathways. Plant transformation (Arabidopsis / Brachypodium) / Molecular characterization. Metabolite extraction from Arabidopsis, Brachypodium, and sorghum transgenic lines.
