Biologist - (Hampton, VA)

Responsible for planning the operation of the vector control program for the County. Ensures that plans are consistent with Federal laws, restrictions, and policies. Monitors mosquito populations and breeding grounds and collects and identifies specimens. Researches the safety and effects of pesticides used and maintains manufacturer's safety data sheets. Responsible for compliance with federal and state NPEDS (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) requirements concerning mosquito control. Receives and responds to concerns and inquiries from the general public and responds to requests for the control of pests in county owned buildings and ticks on school grounds when necessary. Serves as the liaison to the Naval Weapons Station and Cheatham Annex for mosquito control purposes. Must be available to work a flexible schedule twenty hours per week and occasionally during evenings and weekends as required.
