Description of Duties/Key functions Benefits Supplemental Questions Under general direction, advises and responds to complex inquiries from consumers regarding health and property and casualty insurance marketing, coverage provisions of plans, appeals with health insurers and Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs). Assists consumers with filing appeals and external review requests directly with insurers and filing of formal complaints with the Department of Insurance. Serves as an Ombudsman for uninsured. Reviews and analyzes written communicationreceived by the Property & Casualty Complaints Section, determining status (complaint or inquiry) and processing through the electronic system for handling by an assigned property and casualty analyst. Researches various health related resources to identify sources of funding for uninsured and underinsured persons. Provides guidance to lower level analysts in responding to consumers and in regards to training.
