Registered Nurse/Non-bedside - (Newark, DE)

PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for assisting physicians in the examination and treatment of patients. To deliver quality patient care and to perform other clinical and clerical duties within the unit. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Takes and records patients vital signs Assists providers in examinations or procedures Prepares patient chart Administers injections and medication prescribed and directed by the provider. Performs EKG's Answers telephone messages under the direction of the provider Process patient referrals Applies ICD9 and CPT four codes for billing purposes Assures adequate coverage within unit due to staff shortage Functions as a liaison between patients, physicians and staff to provide accurate communication Sterilizes medical instruments Order unit supplies Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards
