POSITION: BUYER Minimum qualifications: Responsible for negotiating contracts and scheduling the delivery of all direct materials. The purchase of energy requires the daily tracking of natural gas prices. The purchase of metal parts manufactured offshore requires the regular tracking of currency exchange rates. Must be adept at reading and interpreting contracts. Good negotiating skills a must. Responsible for the purchasing of non-direct materials related to factory production and facilities maintenance. Responsible for evaluating and maintaining relationships with old vendors. Also responsible for seeking out and meeting with new vendors to promote competition and reduce prices. Responsible for preparation of international shipping documents. Familiarity with international qualifications and procedures a plus. Responsible for assigning or designing packaging for all new company parts. Responsible for scrap disposal and the tracking of all company waste streams.
