THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA LIBRARIES Project Manager: Digitizing Alabama Newspapers Project, 2019-2020-Assistant Professor Project Manager: Digitizing Alabama Newspapers Project, 2019-2020 This is a one-year renewable grant-funded position for a general librarian. The Digitizing Alabama Newspapers Project will digitize 100,000 pages of Alabama newspapers between the years 1813-1963 in accordance with National Digital Newspaper Program standards during the grant period. Digitized Alabama newspapers will be included in the Library of Congress’ Chronicling America database www.loc.gov/chroniclingamerica The Project Manager will manage daily operations and workflow, supervising 2 student workers, and coordinating the work of other staff contributing to the project. The incumbent must possess strong managerial skills, project managerial experience, supervisory background, and knowledge of and background with technical standards and best practices for digitization and/or microfilm conversion projects.
