Computational biologist - peds oncology program - (Grand Rapids, MI)

Responsible for providing computational ability to research program that focuses on the storage, analysis, and distribution of genomic and biological data. Position involves data management: developing, maintaining, and supporting associated genomic software and databases; includes leading data mining, bioinformatic analysis and data integration procedures. Responsible also for assisting scientific staff by providing guidance and training in using bioinformatics in their research. Prepares drafts and manuscripts to include abstracts and poster presentations. Would prefer at least 3yrs of background in bioinformatics software engineering and research. Familiar with publicly available bioinformatics tools, algorithms, and web sites. Programming background in R and Unix. Proficient in 1 of the programming language such as python, shell scripting. three years of background in NGS data analysis preferred. Building, running and maintain various Computational biology pipelines for whole exome sequencing, RNAseq etc.
