St. Lawrence County Public Defender Vacancy Announcement St. Lawrence County is seeking applications for the full-time position of Public Defender. The Public Defender administers and supervises the functions of the Office of the Public Defender, including providing representation to indigent defendants charged with crimes, supervising, and managing a professional legal staff and clerical support staff, coordinating with the Assigned Counsel Administrator when necessary, courts, and other criminal justice agencies to ensure effective, efficient operation of the Indigent Defense Program. A significant portion of the work of the Office of the Public Defender is providing legal support to clients in Family Court. It also includes the initiation of proceedings as necessary. The work is performed under the guidelines provided by law, and under the supervision of the St. Lawrence County Administrator.
