Kalamazoo Public Schools Is Seeking Principal for Arcadia Elementary School 10-Month, Full time 2019-2020 School Year -- -- OUR MISSION: The mission of the Kalamazoo Public Schools is to nurture the dreams of all students and empower all students to contribute to a better world. ABOUT ARCADIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: Arcadia is a language center school with students from many countries speaking over a dozen languages. English language acquisition knowledge is essential for the position as well as familiarity with SIOP (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol) strategies. Differentiated instruction supports the learning needs of all students. Arcadia's administrator, teachers and staff work to improve reading instruction via a High Impact Leadership (HIL) Grant with Western Michigan University. Technology use supports core instruction and interventions in the school. Arcadia's staff members use many strategies from the Randy Sprick's Safe & Civil Schools program for positive behavior supports.
