The Dockhand works under general supervision of the Chief of Yards and Docks who gives instruction and direction during performance of work. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities Performs harbor work primarily between the river bank and floating plant. Handles lines to secure plant and to string out barges. Digs heels for spars with changes in river stages. Moves and makes gangplanks and walkways secure. Transports materials and supplies to boats and barges.
