Grocery Buyer - (Minneapolis, MN)

Purpose: To order and merchandise products to meet department objectives for sales, margin, inventory turns and customer service. REPORTS TO: Grocery Manager Required functions: Place orders with established suppliers to maintain appropriate in-stock level and inventory turns. Receive orders as needed, in accordance with established procedures. Coordinate returns and credit from suppliers where applicable. Ensure accurate, up-to-date price labeling of non-scanned department items. Check shelf tags of scanned items to ensure accuracy. Negotiate with suppliers for favorable prices, terms, quality, and delivery. Evaluate suppliers and investigate new sources of supply (including meeting with brokers and sales reps). Review departmental financial and movement reports and take corrective action as needed. Receive orders and ensure proper receiving by other staff in accordance with established procedures. Ensure accurate, timely updating of all product and price changes in the scanning system.
